FC Platinum coach Norman Mapeza is hoping for a victory over Chapungu today when they play in the first round of the Chibuku Super Cup at Mandava Stadium.
The Zvishavane side has enjoyed a long standing dominance over their Midlands rivals. Chapungu were eliminated at the same stage of the competition by FC Platinum at Mandava in the previous campaign.
Mapeza is now expecting that the last year’s result will be able to replicate itself.
“This is a cup game and if you remember during last year our first game in this tournament was against Chapungu and we managed to win 2-0,” he said.
“I hope it will be the same again come match day and this is an opportunity to go to the second round.”
Meanwhile, Mapeza also said that they are targeting to reach the finals of the tournament. They finished as runners up in last season’s campaign and lifted the trophy in 2014 season.
