FC Platinum have dismissed rumors circulating on social media that they paid Shabanie Mine players winning bonuses for beating Ngezi Platinum early this month.
Shabanie played Ngezi in match day 24 at Maglas Stadium and the Chinda Boys edged their visitors 1-0. Admire Dzumbunu scored the only goal of the match. The win sparked rumors that they received money from their neighbors as a token of appreciation for denting the Mhondoro-based outfit’s title hopes.
Both Ngezi and FC Platinum are chasing the league title.
However FC Platinum media and liaison officer Chido Chizondo said they never assisted their local rivals in that way.
“The club want to put the record straight. We have only assisted Shabanie Mine with affiliation fees as well as fuel for all their away fixtures .With regards to their salaries and bonuses we are not involved,”said Chizondo.
Nonetheless, she admitted that they were concerned with Shabanie’s poor form which has put them in relegation zone. The Chinda Boys are currently on 15th position with 16 points.
“Our concern is to ensure that Shabanie Mine remains in the PSL. It is good for competitiveness as well as football in Zvishavane,” said Chizondo.
