Dynamos’s six match winning run came to an end when they played out to a 1-1 draw at Rufaro Stadium.
An early goal from Christian Epoupa and Highlanders’ second half goal from Benson Phiri were enough to bring the result in a tight contest which saw both teams dominating either halves.
Epoupa’s goal was his eleventh this season and he is now leading the goal scoring chart.
The giant Cameroonian opened the scoring as early as two minutes when he headed home Ocean Mushure’s freekick.
With a better display in the early stages, the hosts followed up with a number of attacks but they failed to quickly add another one to their tally. Bosso soon settled and made their first real chance in the 20th minute when Peter Muduhwa’s header went wide.
They made another attack ten minutes later but it was wasted. Though Bosso kept on nagging in search of an equalizer, it was the hosts who had control of things on the midfield. However the visitors organised their defense and Muduhwa pinned Epoupa so that he wont cause more problems.
The second half resumed with Highlanders regrouped and showing intentions to restore parity. Sixteen minutes in to the half Benson Phiri who had other two glorious chances before made no mistakes this time and struck home effortlessly to bring Bosso back into the game.
This was Bosso’s first goal in five matches.
Dynamos became unsettled after conceding and they started chasing shadows with no hope of coming back.
They suffered a blow three minutes to the fulltime when their star Epoupa saw red. The Cameroonian, out of frustration head butted Muduhwa and he was sent off while the Highlanders’ goal scorer also received a yellow card.
After referee’s decision to dismiss Epoupa, Dynamos fans were left dejected and started throwing missiles in to the pitch.
The action was stopped for some few moments. However the referee blew his last whistle with the scoreline tied at 1-1.
Dynamos are now third on log while Highlanders remains on 9th position.
Elsewhere CAPS United eased to a 3-1 away victory over Bantu Rovers in a match played in Bulawayo.
Hardlife Zvirekwi scored a brace while Dominic Chungwa added the third to the tally. Former Makepekepe player Tapuwa Kumbuyani scored the consolation for the home team.
At Gibbo, Hwange stumbled when they went down 3-1 to Triangle United.
Guthrie Zhokinyi put the Sugar Boys in to an early lead before Nathan Ziwini levelled terms a minute in to the second half. However Simba Makoni restored the lead four minutes later.
The home team scored another one when Ralph Kawondera sent home beautiful effort after Makoni saw him waiting.
