Comoros have taken a big stride toward the third round of Southern Zone qualifiers for the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) after they defeated Lesotho 2-0 on Saturday.

Les Coelecantes’ victory at Stade de Moroni puts them within touching distance of a clash against either Namibia or Zimbabwe in the final qualifying phase, though they will have to come through a testing return leg.

South Africa beat Botswana 2-0 in their CHAN qualifier against the Zebras in Francistown.

Ethiopia moved to within touching distance of the third round of Central-East Zone qualifiers after they defeated hosts Djibouti 5-1.
