Warriors midfielder and captain, Ovidy Karuru, has said he was delighted to score in the Zimbabwe national team colours despite admitting he should have registered a hat-trick.
The 28-year-old Amazulu midfielder clinched the man of the match award as the Warriors registered a 4-0 win over Mozambique, scoring an opening brace two minutes before half-time and 19 minutes into the second half respectively, and was a key figure throughout the match played at Moruleng Stadium in Rustenburg, South Africa, last night.
“It always feels good to score for the national team,” said Karuru after the game.
The other goals came through Dynamos captain, and Warriors vice-captain, Ocean Mushure, who scored from a 77th minute free kick and substitute, Blessing Majarira, who netted their fourth in injury time.
“This is my second game playing for the national team after a long time not playing.
“I am very happy for what I did for my country and I’m hoping to score more goals. We missed a lots of chances and I should have scored a hat-trick,” added Karuru.
