Black Rhinos coach, Sanford ‘Stix’ Mtizwa, has expressed delight that his arsenal is matching all the premier league big guns this season after knocking down Highlanders 3-0 at Morris Depot yesterday.
Black Rhinos, who have already upset Dynamos and the in-form Chicken Inn, moved to the top of the table yesterday after a brace from forward, Lot Chiwunga, and a Herbet penalty pushed Bosso to seventh place on the log table.
Speaking to journalists after the emphatic win, Mtizwa said he is aiming for a premier league top four finish this year.
“I’m happy that my boys are matching all these big guys. Dynamos, Highlanders, Chicken Inn, [etc.], and I want them to keep up the same momentum, maybe that will take us where we want . . . and yes, if we keep winning, yes we’ll be talking about the top four like I said before,” he said.
Mtizwa expressed happiness that his boys had maintained their momentum after the international break following their 1-0 win over Yadah a fortnight ago.
“I’m so, so happy. You know, coming from the break, I thought after this break . . . we were not going to play like we did because that break; we thought it was going to cost us.
“I’m happy my boys maintained that momentum, I’m happy with that momentum,” he said.
“So we still maintain that we are running away from relegation since Rhinos were [last time] relegated and they were relegated with 43 points. So we want to try and collect as much points so that we beat those 43 [points] when they were relegated.
“Yah I think lately we have been crying more about our strikers because mostly linkmen and defenders have been scoring. We’ve been also working with those strikers, it’s paying; they are now scoring. We are going still (sic) to work on them to score more than two goals, especially Lot [Chiwunga].”
