Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) and Council of Southern African Football Associations (COSAFA) president, Philip Chiyangwa, has been appointed the new vice chairman of AFCON games committee.
Chiyangwa’s appointment was made at the inaugural CAF Executive Committee meeting at the Sheraton Hotel in Manama, Bahrain on Monday.
Chiyangwa was a key figure in the recent elections that saw Ahmad end Issa Hayatou’s long reign as CAF president.
Chiyangwa will deputise Nigerian President Amaju Pinnick who was appointed President of AFCON and media Committees.
Meanwhile, Ghana Football Association (GFA) president, Kwesi Nyantakyi, has been named the first vice president with DR Congo FA President, Constant Omari, being named the second vice president.
Other notable appointments:
Danny Jordaan – chairperson of Marketing and TV Committee and chairperson of the club licensing Committee.
Kalusha Bwalya – chairperson of CAF Technical and Development Committee.
Isha Johansen – chairperson of Women’s Football Committee.
