Kaizer Chiefs ABSA Premiership season started on a bad note with a 2-1 loss to Bidvest Wits.Elias Pelembe and Thulani Hlatshwayo scored for the home side. Lorenzo Gordinho grabbed a consolation goal for Chiefs but Wits held on to clinch the winner.

Willard Kastande started for Chiefs but there was no room for Michelle Katsvairo or Edmore Chirambadare in the squad. Cuthbert Malajila came in as a second half substitute for Bidvest Wits.
