A determined Bulawayo City thumped visiting CAPS United 3-1 in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match that was played at Barbourfields Stadium this afternoon.
Lanky City forward Mkhululi Moyo found the opener for the hosts in the seventh minute when he beat an exposed CAPS goalminder Edmore “Zikeeper” Sibanda from just inside the box.
Moyo took advantage of the ball that had deflected from a CAPS defender who had tried to block City’s captain Xolisani “Scara” Moyo from dribbling him.
However, Mkhululi could have found the opener for Bulawayo City in the first minute of the match when he failed to beat Sibanda in a one on one situation after being setup by impressive Welcome “Waroowa” Ndiweni.
The visitors did not throw in the towel as they kept seeking an equaliser with Joel”Josta” Ngodzo and Devon Chafa trying so hard in the middle of the park to supply their Leonard Tsipa led strike force with clean balls.
Just before halftime Trevor Ndlovu made it two for City after he was set up by the ginger haired Ndiweni.
Ndiweni roasted his markers among Justice Jangano before he released a hard and low pass that Ndlovu tapped into the nets.
After the breather, Ndlovu found his second goal of the match in the 67th minute when his grounder beat Sibanda on the left side.
Ndlovu had been set up by his captain who coolly nodded down a Lewis Ncube cross for Ndlovu to drive home.
The hosts then started to enjoy the game even more of the possesion but it was in the referee’s optional time that Devon Chafa’s rebound shot from outside the box got that allowed CAPS United to get the consolation goal.
