The Mighty Warriors ended their 2016 Olympic Games campaign with a 6-1 loss to Australia. Zimbabwe got off to the worst possible start when a swift move by Australia saw Lisa De Vanna open the scoring after a minute of play.
Zimbabwe never really recovered and the onslaught continued with Australia racing into a 3-0 lead by halftime. Zimbabwe were pinned down and were constantly let down by a failure to deal with aerial balls throughout the game.
In the second half Australia picked up from where they left scoring the fourth from another set piece minutes into the half and Mighty Warriors keeper Chido Dzingirai was injured in the process and had to be stretched off.Her replacement Lindiwe Magwede failed to prevent the sixth but did a decent job to stop more goals going in as Australia continued to press.
In the last few minutes the Mighty Warriors pushed for a goal with more purpose in attack and were rewarded when an hard working Emmaculate Msipa pulled one back in 90th minute.
