Highlanders have retained the ZNA Charity Shield after beating Harare City 4-2 on penalties at Barbourfields Stadium.
The match headed into the penalty shootout after it had ended goalless in regular time. Highlanders keeper Prosper Matutu was the hero when he made key saves during regular time to keep Harare City out and then went on to save two spot kicks.
Ronald Chitiyo and Munyaradzi Dinyero had their spot kicks saved by Matutu. The win sees Erol Akbay clinch his first piece of silverware since taking over as head coach.
The match took some time to really spark after an initial dull start.
Harare City had the edge in first half but Highlanders came back fighting in the second half and had good chances to score through Prince Dube while Ronald Chitiyo and James Jam fluffed their chances early in the second half.
