Chicken Inn posted their fifth league win over Highlanders since 2011 when the Gamecocks beat the Bulawayo football giants 2-0 in a derby tie that was played at Barbourfields Stadium this afternoon.
Veterans Obadiah Tarumbwa and stand in captain Clemence Matawu were on top of their game in the process grabbing Chicken Inn’s two all important goals in the 27th minute and in the 88th minute respectively
It was indeed a bad day in office for Highlanders as they watched haplessly the entire match Chicken Inn dominate the exchanges in all the departments.
Tarumbwa, Matawu, new signings Christopher Samekwere and Daryl Nyandoro played like seasoned players as they asked a lot of questions from Bosso.
Bosso’s Bruce Kangwa, Simon Munawa, Benson Phiri, Honest Moyo, striker Kasimero Chimbadzwa among others were all reduced to passengers.
For Chicken Inn to get the first goal, Tarumbwa beat two makers and sent the ball to Matawu who obliged by setting up the former who poked the ball to the nets beating Njabulo Nyoni who was in goals for Bosso.
With Highlanders desperately seeking an equaliser, in the 87thminute they pushed every player upfront and against the run of play Matawu was released on a one on one situation and he beat an exposed Nyoni before y sending the ball home.
It was much to the disappointment of Bosso fans who three missiles onto the pitch soon after the game.
The defeat ended Highlanders unbeaten run which had stretched to nine games. FC Platinum who are now in second spot could go above Highlanders into top spot if they win or draw their game in hand.
