With the transfer window now officially open Highlanders head coach Erol Akbay has made it clear that they will only buy quality that can strengthen his squad.
Highlanders have had a great start to the season and currently lead the standings with 26 points from 11 games.
Akbay’s blend of youth and experience has been working well while positional changes for players like Bruce Kangwa has had a huge impact. Kangwa has scored an impressive six goals and is a surprise leader on the goal scoring charts.
Highlanders have already lost talisman Knox Mutizwa who is set to link up with Bidvest Wits but seem to have already found good cover in exciting youngster Prince Dube who has scored 4 goals this season.
Speaking at Highlanders’ weekly press conference Akbay admitted they have some players on trials but is not satisfied with the quality. “I am looking for quality (during the transfer window) said Akbay. If I choose someone they have to be off exceptional quality added the Dutchman.
Highlanders will be out to stretch their unbeaten run this weekend when they host Chicken Inn in a exciting Bulawayo derby.
