Zimbabwean international Khama Billiat scored a beautiful goal as Mamelodi Sundowns began the group stages of the CAF Champions League with a win over Algerian side ES Setif 2-0.
Billiat who had an amazing ABSA Premiership season continued with his good form into the African Safari as Sundowns made the most of their second chance.
Tiyani Mabunda gave Sundowns the lead in the 33rd minute before Billiat wrapped up the win in the 63rd minute with his brilliant finish. Keegan Dolly set up Billiat who beat two defenders before finishing well.
The game had a sad end as crowd trouble lead to a lengthily stoppage at the end but Sundowns had done enough to claim a key three points.
Sundowns who are in Group B alongside ES Setif, Enyimba and Zamalek move to the top of the group.
In other CAF Champions League matches Zambian side Zesco United clinched a 3-2 win over Egyptian giants Al Ahly while Wydad Casablanca of Morocco beat Ivory Coast’s ASEC Mimosas 1-0.
