The Zimbabwe Warriors coach Callisto Pasuwa is on the verge of writing another piece of History and become the 3rd coach to take the Warriors to yet another AFCON finals.
The Zimbabwe Warriors find themselves with fate in their own hands needing 4 points in their last 2 matches against Malawi and Guinea to make it through.
Permutations become the order of things on the final stretch of qualifiers with calculations of how it may end.
As it Stands in Group L:
1. Zimbabwe 8pts
2. Guinea 5pts
3. Swaziland 5pts
4. Malawi 2pts
Malawi are virtually out of the race and find themselves in the mix of Zimbabwe’s fate.
The Warriors date Malawi this weekend in what can be termed the most crucial encounter of all. In the reverse fixture the Warriors upset Malawi in their own backyard 2-1 in a tightly contested encounter.
Across the border Zim’s closest rivals Swaziland and Guinea will be locking horns in Mbabane.
Zimbabwe can seal a spot at the AFCON finals if Guinea fail to beat Swaziland.
Zimbabwe’s best chance will be if they pick up maximum points against Malawi.
A win for Swaziland coupled by Zimbabwe’s win is another permutation that may seal Zim’s finest hour. That result means the best Swaziland can get is same points as Zimbabwe but the Warriors will take top spot by virtue of a superior goal aggregate.
However a win for Guinea may complicate things. It means when the two teams clash away in Guinea on final matchday the team that wins the game will qualify.
Whatever scenarios may be available – The fact remains Pasuwa is within reach of yet another glorious piece of History. Go Warriors Go!!!
