Spirited CAPS United edged Chicken Inn 2-1 in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match that was played at a filled Luveve Stadium this afternoon.
Makepekepe, who r flew into Bulawayo this morning found the opener in the 33rd minute courtesy of a Brian Amidu ferocious strike from inside the box.
Amidu had a received a cross from the left flank that the Chicken Inn rearguard failed to clear and the CAPS new signing obliged by opening fire in the process reducing Elvis Chipezeze in goals for Gamecocks to a spectator.
Two minutes later Chicken Inn restored parity after Edmore Chirambadare’s left footed strike from outside the box beat the Chicken Inn rearguard.
At first his effort hit the right upright post before it nestled into the nets.
After the breather, Chicken Inn came started with a lot of determination but four minutes into second stanza veteran Leonard Tsipa’s diving header made it two for Llyod Chitembwe’s mentored side.
Thereafter Gamecocks lost their shape and it was no wonder that their midfield marshalled by captain Danny “Deco” Phiri played second fiddle to Joel Ngodzo, Phineas Bhamusi, Amidu and Kudzai Nyamapfukudza.
As the game went on there were numerous stoppages as CAPS United players went down with injuries.
The win sees CAPS United go into second spot ahead of other games this week while Chicken Inn are in 8th spot and have now lost four games in their first 8 games.
