New Highlanders head coach Erol Akbay says his looking forward to doing well with his new club.
Akbay jetted in the country yesterday afternoon after finally receiving his work permit.
He signed a two year performance based contract.
Akbay, who quickly taken to Bosso training ground at Babourfields Stadium after being unveiled said: I’m happy to be here. I am ready to start work. My training programme starts today. Highlanders is big club and I’m looking forward to nice times here”
He added: “I don’t know any player at the club I will have to see what will do with help of my assistants. I can live in Zimbabwe. The weather is okay, it’s not too hot.”
Highlanders CEO Ndumiso Gumede expressed his delight after Akbay’s arrival saying “We are extremely excited that our man has landed. We settled for him in October last year but his paper work delayed his arrival.
Gumede also pointed out that they would be happy if the coach managed a top 4 finish in the upcoming season, but expected him to land the league title by the second season.
