Zimbabwe League Champions Chicken have arrived in Zambia where they are scheduled to take part in a four team tourney in preparation for their opening CAF Champions league fixture against South African Champions Mamelodi Sundowns on the weekend of 12-14 February.
Chicken Inn will tomorrow play Zanaco in the first match. They are also set to play Azam and Zambian champions Zesco.
The Gamecocks coach Joey Antipas told the Chronicle that he will use the matches to condition his players for Foreign opposition.
“I don’t want my boys to be overwhelmed when we play Sundowns in a few weeks and I know that this tournament will afford them an opportunity to settle and get used to foreign opposition. I’m grateful to the executive that saw the wisdom of sending us to Zambia to prepare. We’ll try our best when we face Sundowns,” Antipas said.
The team will however be missing influential players like Danny Phiri and Clemence Matawu who are both recovering from injury.
