The Zimbabwe national team is set to break their CHAN 2016 camp today for the New Year holiday but be back to training by the weekend.
The Warriors camp has been going well after the reinstatement of Callisto Pasuwa as head coach and ZIFA has been living to its promise to cater for the welfare of the players so far.
However there Warriors skipper Danny Phiri is now looking increasingly unlikely to recover in time for the tournament. Phiri has an ankle injury sustained in the Netone Easycall Cup clash with Highlanders and has been restricted to light training.
Although the Warriors technical team will make a final decision when camp resumes hope of having Phiri are dashing fast.
The Chicken Inn captain had a memorable season leading them to their first league title and in the process being named Soccer Star of the Year.
Meanwhile ZIFA have confirmed they are still looking for one or two friendlies to fine tune their preps before the tournament which kicks off on the 16th of January. Togo and Mozambique are the teams that the Warriors are likely to play after plans for a friendly with Cameroon fell through.
