The deadline for submitting papers for the upcoming ZIFA elections came yesterday with a number of potential candidates filing their papers with the nomination court.
Four candidates had reportedly submitted papers for the ZIFA Presidency elections, while three were keen to run for the ZIFA vice president post.
Businessman Philip Chiyangwa will face competition from former PSL Chairman Leslie Gwindi, former Zisco Steel James Takavada player and Trevor Juul who lost the last elections to Cuthbert Dube.

Felton Kamambo, Philemon Machana, Edzai Kasinauyo, Beadle Gwasira, Munyaka Jackson, Lewis Uriri, Piraishe Mabena, Joseph Musasiri, Wilfred Mukuna,Musa Mandaza
Candidates are now set to be vetted by the nomination court on Saturday which will be followed by an announcement of those qualified to run for the posts.
Despite causing much excitement former Warriors skipper Benjani Mwaruwari is absent from the candidates that actually submitted papers. Benjani collected papers earlier in the week but does not seem to have submitted by yesterday’s deadline.
Elections are set to be held next month on the 5th.
