CAPS United have crashed out of the CAF Champions League after losing 4-1 to Algerian side USM Alger on Sunday evening.
USM Alger dominated the game from kick -off with the home side threatening to score early. CAPS United saw very little of the ball in the first 20 minutes as USM Alger controlled proceedings.
In the 36th minute Ziri Hammar fired USM Alger into the lead beating Chigumba in goals for CAPS United. Six minutes later USM Alger doubled the lead with CAPS United punished for poor defending
Halftime came with CAPS struggling as USM Alger continued to dominate.
CAPS United started the second half brightly building up more and testing the USM Alger defence.
However the lack of sustained pressure continued to give USM Alger the advantage as they caused problems on the break.
In the 79th minute Oussama Darfalou made it three with a free header inside the box. Abbas Amidu pulled one back for CAPS United against the run of play in the 81st minute.
Darfalou then piled on the misery for CAPS United when Chigumba attempt to save saw the ball played into his path and he made no mistake to score the fourth.
The result sees CAPS United finish bottom of the Group with six points from six games. Zamalek also bow out after drawing 2-2 with Al Ahli Tripoli who proceed to the next round with USM Alger.
