ZIFA are reportedly close to sealing a big sponsorship deal with state owned mobile operator Netone.
Earlier this week ZIFA president Philip Chiyangwa had indicated that the association was set to closing in on a deal with a corporate.
Netone which is the country’s second biggest mobile operator in terms of subscriber base is expected to pour in $2 million and will sponsor both the Warriors and Mighty Warriors.
The Mighty Warriors have already qualified for the Olympics and African Women’s Cup of Nations while the Warriors are on course to qualify for AFCON 2017.
Netone’s sponsorship deal will be a big relief for national teams who have in the past been shunned by the corporate world and instead had to depend on individuals.
A source close to the deal told the Herald,You can say that it is a done deal ,as of now ,because the two parties on what should be done and the meetings have been going on very, very well and the two parties are excited about the marriage.
Netone are no stranger to football sponsorship having been bank rolling Premier League Soccer League competitions such as the One Wallet and Easy Call Cup.
