ZIFA president Philip Chiyangwa has announced a US$1 million sponsorship from businessman Wicknell Chivayo.
Chiyangwa announced the deal this afternoon. According to Chiyangwa the agreement will see Chivayo release the money progressively during the ZIFA president’s tenure.
Chiyangwa explained how Chivayo got involved to Sta FM“At the time that I embarked on my campaign some AAG members made some pledges, so they have come forward to fulfil it and that is Wicknell Chivhayo”
The first three batches will be used to pay former Warriors head coach Tom Saintfiet who is owed over $100 000.FIFA have already warned that failure to pay the amount owed may risk Zimbabwe getting banned for more competitions after getting a ban for the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.
The agreement was signed today with Chivayo set to make a payment of $50 000 towards Saintfeit’s debt on the 23rd of December.
Another $50 000 will be paid at the end of January reads the agreement.
Chivayo’s business interests include ownership of Intratech Zimbabwe a company involved in transport and logistics, farming, petroleum and energy.
