Highlanders registered their first win at Barbourfields Stadium over rivals Dynamos since 2006 in the Netone Easycall Cup semi-final clash played today.
Knox Mutizwa and Obadiah Tarumbwa scored the all-important goals for Bosso while Rodreck Mutuma scored a consolation and also got sent off.
With a lively atmosphere at Barbourfields both teams settled well and started game at a very fast pace. Dynamos forced three successive corners but it was Highlanders that took the lead in the 5th minute.
Valentine Ndaba shot fell kindly for Tarumbwa who made no mistake scoring to give Highlanders the advantage.
Highlanders continued to dictate things and Carlos Rusere kept Dynamos in the lead on the 19th minute when he cleared a goal bound effort off the line.
Dynamos were struggling to handle Highlanders midfield while Mutizwa and Tarumbwa quick runs were causing problems.
In the 31st minute Highlanders went two up when Mutizwa did well to break then went past Muroiwa before a fine finish to send a packed Barbourfields into dancing and cheering for Bosso fans.
Eight minutes later Chinyama thought he had pulled one back when he finished with a well taken effort. The referee though correctly ruled it out for offside.
Halftime came with Highlanders firmly in control and looking comfortable.
The second half saw a much improved Dynamos side as they took the game to Highlanders. Ronald Chitiyo came very close when he weaved his way into the box but shot straight to the keeper.
In the 57th minute Ocean Mushure did well to set up Mutuma who finished to pull one back for Dembare.
The goal gave Dynamos more inspired Dynamos’ even more as they went out for the equaliser. Pushing men forward though left them more vulnerable to quick breaks by Mutizwa and Tarumbwa.
With time running out for Dynamos Rodreck Mutuma once again showed his ugly side when a clash with Highlanders substitute Ralph Matema saw him kick Matema .The referee had no choice but to send off Mutuma while Matema got a yellow card for his part.
Three minutes of added time came and Highlanders saw them out to register that keeps them in the hunt for silverware.
Highlanders will now clash with Chicken Inn in the final set for next weekend.
